Project Overview:
When the earthquake struck Nepal, relief efforts faced major coordination challenges. To address this, my team and I developed HimalayanDisaster.org, a disaster management platform that helped communities and organizations know where, when, and what kind of aid was needed.
Key Features & Contributions:
- Centralized tracking of resources, volunteers, and relief efforts, providing visibility into “Who is doing What, Where, and When.”
- Coordinated volunteers and relief distribution, linking available manpower to areas with the greatest need.
- Maintained real-time updates to monitor what had been done and identify gaps in aid delivery.
- Designed for ease of use under emergency conditions, enabling rapid decision-making and efficient mobilization.
Impact:
The platform streamlined disaster relief efforts, improved coordination among multiple groups, and ensured resources and volunteers were deployed effectively to those in need.
